It's National Blueberry Month!

Bluberries were the No.1 crop last year in NJ, which is home to the "Blueberry Capital of the World"...Hammonton.

From pies and pancakes to muffins and wines, the almighty blueberry is one of the most beloved fruits in North America. Here in New Jersey however, it's somewhat of a superstar. Blueberries are not only the state fruit, but they were the number one crop last year in the Garden State, which typically sees a ranking in the top 6 for yearly state blueberry production. This Jersey Fresh sweet treat packs a nutritional punch with plenty of antioxidants and vitamins C, K, and Manganese. Blueberries are also low in calories and high in fiber with four grams for an average 1 cup serving at just 84 calories.

While today is National Blueberry Day, rest assured, you have the rest of the month to celebrate all things blueberry and what better place to do it than in the state that is home to the "Blueberry Capital of the World" ...Hammonton? So, be sure to hit your local produce stand and grab a few pints of those little blue gems that would truly shine in the Jersey Fresh recipe below

- just in time for National Blueberry Muffin Day on Thursday (7/11). What's your favorite way to eat blueberries? If you have any recipes of your own, we'd love for you to share in the comments below.
