A New Leash on Life

Meet Olive, a long time favorite at the Humane Society of Ocean City.

In less than a week, I'll be celebrating my seven-year wedding anniversary, yet I still marvel at how drastically my life changed on that day. When I said I do, I was not only blessed to add my soul mate to my life but also three beautiful kids and a rescue dog named Boojee. It was a big adjustment, but what surprised me the most was how attached I became to a dog even though I never thought of myself as a dog person. Sadly, we were forced to put him down two years ago at the age of 15. I never knew that losing a pet could hurt so much. Two months later we were ready to once again share our home and our hearts with another rescue. Our new little lovebug, Rocky, is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet.

Life is full of second chances for both pets and pet owners and the Humane Society of Ocean City is committed to caring for shelter cats, dogs, and even rabbits until they are able to be connected with their new forever family. The video below tells the beautiful story of one such connection featuring the adorable dog Olive who you see pictured above. Please watch and share so that more of these stories can be told, and if you'd like to support the cause, head to www.hsocnj.org for more information on their Woofstock 2019 fundraiser on October 18th at Josie Kelly's in Somers Point. Maybe I'll see you there. ;) #MakeADifference
